I appreciated reading this sight so much I thought I ought to join.

In the two months or so I have frequented this sight if have gleaned a lot of good information, and I figured I had enough information to post a question of my own so I registered. After this post I plan on posting a question in the rules and regulation forum and I would appreciate any feedback or information I could get. I sure I will get something good from this group!

To introduce myself - I am not new to trucking; I have been a mechanic for equipment, including trucks for many years. Just recently, I was a mechanic for a construction firm, but the housing market put them(us) out of business. Getting another mechanic job without a CDL now days is just about impossible. Even a couple of years ago that was not the case. It just is now!

So just before the start of the year, the deadline for CDL testing without schooling for WA and other states. I took all the written tests - passed - first time same day! Passed the driving the following week. But, at the same time I was offered a CDL class at the local community college for a price I couldn't refuse. I thought a class can't hurt so I am just finishing that now. I originally took the class thinking I would just look for another mechanics job, but not anymore. I want to go trucking. Always have, just never did. Now, I am appreciating the expert advice and information that I am finding on this website!
