18-wheeler full of drugs stolen

You mean the driver had a 45 pistol in the cab, but still got robbed, lost truck, trailer, and freight? Too bad they didn't carry a gun in the cab to keep this from happening; like some posters claim. Oh wait a minute they did have a gun in the cab.Hmmm, so much for that theory.

Technically, she didn't get "robbed", no one stuck a gun (or other weapon) in her face and/or overpowered her. If she had been in her truck and someone had tried, there is a good chance that she would have stopped them. It is a statisticallly provable fact; that guns stop crime over 2 million times in the U.S. each year, but guns locked-up, guns with "child-safety devices" don't.
The fact that she had a gun in her truck isn't the story, as much as you would like it to be. The real story is; she left her truck with over $5M in Pharms in the trailer unattended with the truck probably running. She hauled out of Knoxville, most likely Wyeth in Vonore.
That is who my company hauls a good portion of freight for. My company has three safety features in the truck she probably didn't have. It takes three keys to unlock my truck and two keys to start it, which have to remain in the locks for the truck to run. Not to mention there is a "secret" bypass switch to start the truck. We (the drivers) are also required to turn the truck off and remove all keys (and use all safety features) if we are out of the truck, even for a minute. In addition to the three safety features my boss employs, I also have a BIG UGLY pure-bred Michigan Brown dog that hates everyone for protection. I also carry a gun. I can guarantee that no one will try to steal the truck I drive, if I am in it or not.
I can guarantee they wont get past my dog, if they do, they deserve what follows.

 

Well just think instead of having a gun in the cab if all truckers carried weapons on them this could have been stopped. Everone including her could have went running after them laying a supression of fire at the rig. If everyone opend fire I am sure they could have stopped the truck. Might look like the shootout at the OK Coral, but imagine if one trucker started shooting at the truck, soon 100 truckers would be there to join in.

 

Though they didn't specify what type of drugs were stolen (a truckload of stool softener probably wouldn't be worth much on the street) these are either the luckiest thieves who ever lived, or this is possibly some sort of an "inside" job?

 

That's exactly what I get the feeling it was..."an inside job" of some sort. Yea, they most likely KNEW exactly what was on the manifest to be sure. Hm, I wonder if they had any Xanax on there, I could save some money...J/K, ROTF.

 

Wonder how long she waited to call it in,pretty hard to hide it unless she gave them a head start,or had it unloaded before she parked it there,and just had to hide the truck,been done before,that is for sure. For you guys that have a big bad dog in your truck.I used to raise dobermans for 16 yrs,when I first started I thought they were foolproof,guess what?,I could not have been more mistaken. I met a friend that had a whole truckload of pitbulls dobies and sheperds and rotties,he had this job of dropping them off at factories and business' in boston. He told me his heart was broken a few times a year,quess how? Thieves would taunt the dogs get them close like inside a fence or building,and,with a big can of hairspray,spray that dogs mouth and nose,then the poor old tough doggie chokes to death,as he cannot breathe hair spray chemicals,and kills him or her. If you don't believe it,please don't try it.His dogs were all trained well enough so they would not eat other food thrown at them,but the hairspray worked,he then had to use more than one dog,hoping they didn't get the second one. The thieves then broke in and robbed the place. I used to service his truck with the dogs in it,they would show their teeth at me.He raised and helped train them. He retired a big black belgeum shepard and took it home as a guard dog for his family. The first night in his home his 5 year old got up to go to the bathroom,that dog attacked the boy and he almost died,over 500 stitches,he shot the dog,he never thought that what if someone got up in the night,at the warehouses nobody got out and about except a thief,the dog just did what he was trained to do,a true lifes lesson. I was 21 many years ago and never forgot that man,his dogs,and his little boy. Happy fathers day to you fathers out there,you mothers will have to wait,ha ha',be home monday eve to celebrate mine,see ya all.

 

to clarify - i was only suggesting this could possibly have been an inside job.

and i certainly didn't point any fingers at the driver (lord knows i have enough trouble with them on some of the other threads.) as wise one noted, there are many other possible links in this chain.

and dogs - mine have slept through two burglaries of my home...but when a friend rings the doorbell...they go insane. gotta love em.
