Chicken Feed: Truckers' Code For Meth

Chicken Feed: Truckers' Code For Meth
10/15/07
KELOLAND TV, SD
Quote:
The semi driver accused of doing drugs then getting behind the wheel has just made his first court appearance.

Fifty-three-year-old Larry Risseeuw's truck went off the road Sunday, south of Worthing on Interstate 29. The Sioux Falls man is accused of driving from Texas to South Dakota while high on meth.

But we found out today, that this is not an isolated incident, in fact, truckers we talked with say meth even has a code name in the trucking industry. It's called chicken feed and this latest crash is just scratching the surface of a much bigger and dangerous problem.

Risseeuw should never have been behind the wheel in the first place, according to authorities. They say he was high on meth in order to stay awake.

"You hear of it or actually witness it."

Truck drivers we talked with today told us, meth dealers sometimes hang out in parking lots or truck stops to try to sell meth. They hear chatter on their CB's asking them if they need chicken feed.

Chicken Feed, eah?

I guess too many folks figured out what,...........

"Can anybody help me?" means.

As in, .................

"Can anybody help me for the next 800 miles?"

Sometimes followed by,........................

"I got a hot load headin' to hell
and it was due there yesterday ---
gotta make up some time. SOMEbody HELP me?"

Are you thinkin' "Feed"?
or "Feet"?

I would think "Chicken Feed" is a signal for a smaller amount "go-fast". Times are rough and the dollar is gettin' tighter. Gotta cut corners SOMEwhere, I guess.

I've heard Meth referred to as
Go Fast
Giddy-Up
Coast-to-Coast
Honey-Do
Bump
Crutch
Boost
Kick
Inspiration
"Motorvation"
High Road
Toothpicks (like to hold their eyelids open)
Industrial Strength, (coffee) (soda) (tea) (etc)
Black Beauty
"X"
_ hit
Stuff
Candy
Bonus
Cold Medicine
Refreshment

Push *(can indicate they want pure stuff to shoot in their veins. Like "pure" street stuff is gonna happen.)*
Ice *(Any "ice" in the parking lot tonight? ((In the summer time)) ).
Crystal *(Has anybody seen Crystal tonight?)*
Rocket Fuel/Rocket Man
Stairway to Heaven *(I'm lookin' for the Stairway to Heaven, and I can't find it on my atlas. Can anybody help me? ~~~ Which just might be the best description)
Heavy Metal *(Anyone here into Heavy Metal and wanna trade for some blue grass? ("pot")*

These things can come up in Big truck truck stops during what seems like innocent, idle conversation betwixt one or more Big truck drivers over the CB radio. Seems innocent. But it's not a bad idea to listen to the garbage for a few minutes, then decide if THAT truck stop is REALLY where you wanna spend the night.

I'm sure NOT saying ALL Big truck stops are like that.
Nope.
But SOME ARE.
Nice to know which ones.
Ya reckon.

And be cautious of lumpers. Especially if they're working in teams and seem to know each other. If you reveal too much info, they've been known to distract Big truck drivers enough so that their partner(s) can get into your Big truck. And it ain't to just look around.

And, if you arrive at a warehouse knowing your load takes about 5 hours to lump, and the first two hours the lumper got very little done, then break time.
Oh great!
Already an hour behind and it's only been two hours.

After a 15 to 30 minute break, your lumper returns and has you completely unloaded in an hour and a half --- out the door.
Hmmmmmmmm
Record breaking time!

Y'all can pretty well bet he indulged in some "chicken feed" out there in the parking lot during the break.

Bummers though, when it takes $100 worth of chicken feed to earn $60 unloading Big truck trailers.
Is that any way to run a business?

I was out walking my DOGS the other day and came upon a house with about 15 subjects standing on the porch.

Well my instincts kicked in, realizing that this was certainly a DRUG house of some sort and to walk faster...lol

We had just about passed the house when I heard someone from the porch yell..."HEY BLONDIE!" "Are you Straight?"

Not being around the DRUG world, I wasn't sure what straight meant. SO to not make matters worse, my DOGS and I took to jogging....lol
