Every year, he said, there seems to be some sort of a change in requirements for CDL drivers who also have HAZMAT endorsements on their license. Meredith said each year, the Department of Public Safety seems to want a little more information when renewing a license, and on his last trip, he was asked for his Social Security card for verification. don't like it, but it's OK," he said. "At least my information won't leak to the public from them." Motorists throughout Texas with a CDL are having to bring their Social Security cards when they renew their license. DPS also is requiring they bring in a copy of their security clearance from their employer if they haul hazardous materials. its been a pain around here, ive been studying to get my hazmats(dont need them , but makes me a more marketable driver) when i looked into getting them , i was shocked how much i have to go though to get them...im happy that they care about safty but seriously is this much really needed?
