Today...$108.00 for a barrel of oil....$3.98 per gallon for diesel fuel, company's, shippers and receivers screwing us left and right. Come on people what the hell are you waiting for!!! There was an annalist on one of the major news channels recently that said there is no reason for oil to be this high. He said it should be around $70 to $80 per barrel not over $100.00. Do you know that Exxon Mobile posted a record profit earnings last year of over 40 billion dollars? Why is it that regular gas only went up a few cents today but diesel went to almost $4 per gallon?

You know i thought that the log book changes would be enough. Then i thought that the little black boxes in EVERY truck would do it...Then came a proposed country wide speed limitation for all trucks of 65 MPH and i thought surely that would be the last straw but still nothing.

Are all of you content with just getting by, are you happy that you can just afford to run your truck and nothing else. Are you happy that you must depend on your spouse to pay the rest of the bills because you can't make enough to cover everything yourself? Not to mention that with every time we increase our rates to compensate for the increase in operating expenses everything in the stores go up as well. I got news for you. There are a lot of people that cannot afford to spend $5 for a gallon of milk or $3 for a loaf of bread and then have to pay over $3 for gas. So since the government doesn't give a #### about the peole that they were elected to watch over or the fact that the only thing they do care about is how much of our money they have to waste, don't you think it's time that we tried to do something? Don't you think it's time that drivers started caring about something other than ourselves? Don't you think that someone needs to take a stand for what's right for our country?

Now i'm not talking a week long strike, i'm not even talking a whole day. All it would take is just an hour nationwide shut down of as many trucks as possible to make the point that we are tired of being every states extra income! I live in N.C. and in the last 2 months this state starting writing tickets for being over 60 foot in length on any road that is not an approved truck route. No matter if the road is a 4 lane highway (like 321 between I-40 to I-85) or a narrow mountain road the fines are still the same. At least $250.00 dollars and 3 points on your licence and a misdemeanor on your record. It is noting but blatant harassment of truckers pure and simple and it's the same thing that goes on all across the country everyday but still we do nothing!

From what i understand we are the largest work force in the United States so we do have it within our power to make the government and the company's change they way they treat us. If we would only stand together as one voice. Fifteen years ago my trainer told me one thing that sticks with me to this day. He said that when your out on the road people do not see the name of the company on the side of your truck, they see dollar signs!

My friends that needs to change!

First of all the reason only diesel prices went up was the oil companies discovered that you can stop running your personal car but commercial trucks have to keep running no matter what. I also agree that a strike is in order but will never happen. If a strike did occure than George Bush will most likely declare a nationwide marshall law and you will be forced by gun point from the military or police to keep driving.

That's why we should only shut down for one hour, at first. If nothing changes, if no one wants to know or care why we did what we did then we do it for a day! We do it ever how long it takes for the American people to understand why we are shutting down and also to understand what the final result will be if we can effect some kind of change. Because in the end lower prices for us will mean lower prices for every one else!

As far as George Bush goes. I really cant see anything like that happening anyway. He has his hands full with the war and how to spend all of that oil money!

Don't call it a strike or the feds will be able to force you back to work.

Call it a vacation and they won't be able to force you to do any thing.

    You got that right.

3 days would start to stress a few folks out, 5 would get em pretty concerned and a week would probably do a find job of getting the point across.
