NY imposes diesel rules

New York state has mandated heavy-duty diesel trucks owned by state entities and by contractors working on behalf of the state be retrofitted to cut emissions by 2011.

The state’s environmental board approved the regulations June 17, expected to affect 30,000 vehicles and reduce a heavy-duty diesel emissions by 25-85 percent. The board’s actions were in response to the New York State Diesel Emission Reduction Act of 2006.
