Indiana Statesman, IN
ISU freshman open preference major Michael Keane of Sullivan, Ind. died of severe trauma from a car crash Thursday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Woodridge Road.
Keane was driving and tried to pass the car in front of him when he hit a semi truck and then a Toyota, according to officers at the scene of the accident.
Officials on site said both passengers of the car were Indiana State University students. The Terre Haute Police Department could not confirm this as of press time on Thursday.
The passenger, whose name was unavailable at press time, was taken to Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
The driver of the semi truck and the Toyota both escaped the accident unharmed. The police held traffic at a stand still for more than two hours while crews cleared debris and checked for any hazardous materials left behind.
