I drove a volvo engine truck for 6 months and it didn't seem to pull as good as a cummins. And the volvo engine brake was a waste of time. The old Mack Dynatards worked better and they just barely worked.

Agreed. There are those here who have multiple orgasms at the site of yellow engines, but I say a Cummins is not a bad investment at all. You won't be disappointed.

Cummins for sure. While I am a big Volvo fan, the cummins is cheaper to rebuild and requires less down time.

Even though I have a yellow kitty under the hood I would say if it is a new truck (07 or newer) Cummins is the way to go, 06 or older Cummins or Cat as they are both excellent engines. I have had both various engines over the years from red triple nickes in equipment that never said die to yellow 3208's that pulled the pi55 out of everything they came into contact with. My first company truck had the green demon 60 series in it and it would be my last, all blow and no go, when Detroit quit making 2 strokes their engines turned to crap.
