I like driving for them all in all... Not perfect, but no driving job is. No equipment worries or wink/wink favors nonsense either. Get paid for everything.... I still hate sleeping in a truck and working weekends my sched has them in there. It is a good job.

Carriers were recognized and awarded for criteria including revenue/growth, ease of doing business, communication, flexibility, customer service and follow-up/correction of errors.
Wal-Mart wants to recruit and retain truck drivers. They offer drivers $900 a week, plus a $1000 signing bonus. Drivers are home every weekend. Requirements include having a CDL Class A drivers license for 3 months, verifiable first seat experience in the last year, or 12 months experience in the last 3 years. Drivers must have experience hauling 45’ and longer flatbeds or trailers.
Wal-Mart also requires that drivers have
    • No DUI’s or related incidents in the last 5 years
    • No felonies in the last 5 years
    • No drug or violent related felonies ever
    • No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
    • No more than 2 accidents in the last 2 years
Wal-Mart is looking for permanent placement of drivers, and they will receive full benefits after 60 days, and 401k savings start immediately.

    SOUNDS good.
I plan to start my trucking career with Swift an gain the experience needed. But I have set it in stone in the back of my mind that plan on having along and financially lucrative career, driving for wallie's world. Can't wait to get my keys to that brand new Freightliner Cascadia or Kenworth!

When I asked how long it would last that way I was told they had drivers that have been their 12+ years and they still have to work weekends. I politly thanked them for their time and turned them down. They were very nice. I think a person with no hobbies or a need to be home on weekend would love it but it just aint for me. I guess my weekends are worth 30 or 40 thousand a year to me.
Did they explain that the private fleet is moving towards having more 6/3 programs. Thats three people sharing two tractors working 6 days then off 3 days. Many drivers wrap it up in 5.5 and get 3.5 off but most manage their hours to get as much money as possible before heading in. 6/3 program drivers work 243 days a year but can make just as much a 5/2 drivers if they plan well. The 6/3 works good for the company because they max the miles per month on the tractors. Drivers like it because even a new guy can drive the same two trucks without slip seating, the time off is also a big factor.

Because the schedule rotates your three days off will be different each week, this means full weekends off every six weeks. 6/3 drivers can use comp time to extend their 3 days off instead of taking full weeks of vacation. All new drivers get 17 days of comp time (vacation, holidays, personal and safety days) their first year. If you like time off you can get 5 days in a row off every 8 weeks or 4 days off in a row once a month. The 5 off is what I do and I like it much better than taking the 6 one week vacations I when I was at Kroger.

I love the 6/3.... Great money and ample time off. Wal-Mart is a good place to drive for and most of the weekends that I work are no big deal. There is even a weekend differential... Pluses far outweigh the minuses.

Hey glad you made it over! If you were looking to get an answer about the employee discount its 10% on everything with the exception of liquor and tabacco. There are some other exceptions but for the most part its everything.

I applied online for London, KY and Pottsville, PA. Hoping for a Shelby NC or Laurens SC opening but I will take whatever they offer if they even offer. I need this! I want this! Ain't getting any younger and bills seem to keep getting higher...

Good luck Drail... I am sure Pottsville will call first. Tough and very busy DC to work out of... Whatever happens there, stick it out for a year, then transfer closer to home.

Got my job offer, went and got the DOT physical. Waiting for the drug screen to come back, and the criminal background check.

Looking forward to getting out of the LTL rat race, and working for the private fleet until I retire...

    Life is GOOD!!!
