Well, I guess I'm a trucker now. I hauled my first local load yesterday. It was a f'n disaster. My numbers are officially active today, so I'm going to start crossing state lines on Monday. I did this because of these two threads:

The journey begins - purchased a truck.
    Change my mind

So now I'm in this because of you guys. This is not my fault, and I take no responsibility for my own actions. If you see someone swerving around on the interstate like an idiot, it's probably me.

I enjoy reading threads about your journeys, and figured another one wouldn't hurt. Hopefully one day this very thread might talk someone into or out of this decision.

I've got a 26' box truck right now. The plan is to learn the business, put a driver in this truck, and transition into a real truck with a flatbed trailer.

    Wish me luck!

You can make a great empire for your family and yourself with a small 26 footer. I did with a 24’ box truck. Easy to run circles around the big guys if you got the drive and ownership mindset. That is how I got respect and the handle “SmallPackage” from my Uncle and all the old hands.
    Get to truckin’

I once picked up a full truck load of 4 parcel size boxes, and no #### delivered it 4 docks down in the same building. LOL. It’s crazy what some people will do while spending other people’s money.

Congrats on your authority though man! Good luck with everything and looking forward to following your journey.

That’s keeping it local. Depending on what loop you run you can get 50 miles on 410 or 100 miles on 1604 end to end. Lol!
