All of the above pays very well. The broker is simply squeezing the rate.

The fed hiked the interest rate another 3/4 of a point yesterday.

Interest rates are now a full 3X more than they were in February.

Last time we had run away inflation the interest rates hit 20% in 1980

 

Next time a broker offers you cheap freight say break even costs are $3.27 , look it up.

 

My fuel cost is more like $.60 mile.

Insurance ( truck & workman's comp ) $.05 mile

Permits and plates $.02 mile

I'll say equipment and maintenance is accurate $0.57 mile

Bennies ( medical ) $0.05 mile

Admin ( I'll use my accountants fee ) $0.008 mile

Tires are in with equipment and maintenance.

I keep what's left over.

So moar like $1.30 or $1.40 to actually operate the truck.

The interest rate now is still low.

 

I'm getting fuel at 4.5 a gallon not great but better then 5, and average 3.5 a mile running reefer southeast and Midwest region. Could be better, I guess but I'll manage

 

Inflation is a symptom of donkey pox and it won't be cured until next Presidential election.
