I have to say, so far New York is a beautiful State. So is northern Ohio and northern Pennsylvania. I cut across Vermont and head to New Hampshire tomorrow. I can’t wait to see Vermont. I was there when I was about 4 but don’t remember it. I’ve been in all lower 48 when I was a child but don’t remember much. So far, in about a month I’ve been in 15 states so far. I can’t wait for my wife to see all of this with me. She will be in the truck with me in about a week. I really want her to see everything I’ve been seeing. We both love mountains, cabins and old barns. I know one thing, NY State PoPo ain’t no joke! They’re everywhere!! I bet I saw 100 just today. I’ve seen more of them than any other state police. Big day tomorrow, 4 drop and hooks just to start my day and then I’ll probably get another dispatch. I’m hoping it’s down in the Carolinas or Tennessee. Guess we’ll see when the time comes. Be safe, keep the PP side down and shiny side up!!
I’m in Wilton right now. I’m parked at Scotty’s restaurant & truck stop. They serve a really good NY strip with all the fixins. High priced but really good! I’ll drop this load in the morning and wait for another dispatch. Cigs here are crazy high! $15/pk. I’m wanting to get back to the Midwest or South.
I made a run from Wilton to Hooksett, NH and back today. Went the south route due to winter storm warning up north of here. Got 503 miles today. Tablet navigation took me right in town of Troy, that thing might find a river!! I liked to never got turned around and back out of there. I was so mad!
Cherokee, you couldn't be at a better old world style truck stop if you tried. Scott's was my favorite truck stop when I ran up into New York state. Every state should charge as much for a pack of cigarettes but people who smoke will pay no matter how much they cost. Keep up the great thread on your adventures and continued success.
I appreciate you and your input! I believe I’m a trucker that’s 40 years too late getting into the industry. I love it and I’d be doing it even if I didn’t get paid for it. I have a true love of getting my deliveries made on time. I love the people I deal with on a daily basis. I want my employer to make money so I can make money. I look forward to every single morning getting up early, coffee in me from my own pot in my truck, doing a thorough pre-trip and then getting behind that wheel and driving. Interchanges aggravate me because they put 4 or 5 together in some states. And I have trouble getting into the right lane, people move when they see you coming… BUT, I don’t want to be the bully on the road. Sometimes you just have to be assertive. Today I have a 34 hr reset and I miss being on the road already. I’ve been driving 10- 10 1/2 hrs a day.” If I get this load done then I can go on to another load, making all of us money”, is my attitude. Yesterday, I was up and down mountains all day. At one point I went down a mountain that was 6% for about 6 miles, due east of Albany, NY. Not once did I use my service brakes. I let the Jakes hold my speed at 58 mph all the way down. That was awesome! Just wish this truck had vertical stacks to listen to them. I love that sound!!
Since I’m down for 34 and my wife is coming into this truck in about a week… I want her to come into a clean truck and I’m a very clean man… I swept my floor in here and got it mopped. Smells so much better in here already and I love clean floors. That floor was nasty!
