I know a lot too. Dad worked for rising fast, remember them years ago?
    Them JMI old Julian martin
And the .18/mile split was what he and my uncle got teaming in a cabover water to water with a 55 mph governor on the truck.
No of course it’s not exactly but the old trucks, and if you don’t follow suit they don’t need you… kinda like today they’ll get rid of drivers and replace, hence high turnover.

True but those Health Inspectors aren't armed and dressed like a military battalion or SWAT team though.

Exaggerate much? I’ve been pulled over twice in six years for roadside inspections (Texas Highway Patrol and Tennessee Highway Patrol) and I’ve had a couple of inspections at weigh stations. The troopers had holstered pistols, I don’t recall seeing weapons on the scale guys. None of them were dressed up like SWAT team members, and all were polite and professional.

Do you want to disarm the police?

Really can’t see what the fuss is all about
Have had one pesky inspection in 50+ years
The rest were just another working person like me goin they’re job
Got few tickets back in the day
    Never one I didn’t deserve…,never a bad interaction
As for regulations? Other than HOS (which is more lenient than in years past)
What’s this regulation yall are discussing?!

Well everyone has the right to choose a career or job. There was bad drivers back then, just like now. There was shady company's just like now. I have filled on 2 company brokerage bonds this month. In the day of the ICC, that didn't happen. 7 day payment or ICC would suspend broker authority for non payment.

I'm not a union guy. But the had some benefits of wage control and health and welfare.

Guys cried for deregulation. Now guys cry to be regulated. But no one does anything about it. We are the most regulated "de-regulate" industry.

Just gets old hearing guys cry about how regulated this industry is and how this is the only industry that deals with inspections. This industry isn’t regulated and that’s what’s lead to where it is now. Takes way less money to get authority and play truck driver than it does to open up a lot of other businesses.

Totally agree but I feel the "regulation" comes in with the privacy invading drug testing and police up the #### everywhere. Things were better before deregulation. Not only for the industry but for the general public. I'm sick of hearing about people getting killed by trucks.

That's your prospective. Before lanes were owned and rates were set. Then they skimmed off of that. Drivers wage and truck wage was higher then than now. Today no one sets my rates. They might not accept it. But only I can set it. I can haul any freight anyplace I want.

We ain't going back, so everyone better figure out how to make money regardless how you feel.

You can set any rate you want but it's worthless if nobody pays it.
