Pros
Safety First, good tanker training if you need it
Cons
Dispatcher/DBLs don’t care, don’t try to keep you loaded after being there 6+ months your loads decrease to 1 maybe 2 with restarts after each

Trucks were in great shape, trailers not so much, They got rid of a good dbl for some guy with a degree in art, thought keeping drivers on his board wasn’t his job

Pros
Pick your freight, run when and how you want, go home whenever you want. No one calls and checks on you or micromanages. Tips, knowledge & experience to start your own company
Cons
Lots of double brokered loads if you have to use the board to get back to your area. Laredo. Days waiting on a tray to be loaded and brought across border, then will have no glad hand rubbers, carry a lot with you. First week is hard on some guys, 2 day orientation for vans, wait on trailer utilization 3-5 days more, you go into negative balance for insurance, as it starts when they call you and set your orientation date.

I enjoyed my time with Landstar, could easily do 4k/M-Thursday and be home Fri-Sunday. Only left because I got my own authority.
