The Dirty Old Trucker on Instagram: "Schneider really showing us why they were awarded that big safety award from the National Safety Council. SMH.. OP smokin.dog1" Not sure how three of them get in this situation.
Well that's simple. The ring leader used his GPS and the other 2 followed suit. There was not one of the 3 that used any sort of trip planning, which includes checking that atlas. If the feds really want to eliminate bad drivers make understanding an atlas mandatory. Schnieder probably has 3 pink slips awaiting.
From what I’ve seen these “training” companies don’t train at all. Just a “crash course”(pun intended?)on a computer terminal, 2 week with a “trainer” who probably just got out of driving school and they’re turned loose…
Some companies at one point I don’t know if any are still doing it. Were letting people train after three months of experience
Because they're using Commercial Truck GPS Navigation Software | Verizon Connect It's extremely challenging to preview, gives confusing instructions and is generally a pos. One of its common failures is that it will reroute even when you are on your route "based on changing conditions ". IE you're heading south on 294 and it detects traffic at the i55 junction. It will tell you to get off on i290 and run into Chicago to pick up 94 or run west over to IL 83 and run that down to Alsip. It also recalculates as you're moving from the lot into the road way. So even if you've previewed the route, it might change to something dumb while you're driving.
is google maps on your tablet the best or a paid garmin subscription ? Yes i understand having a Rand atlas and doing pretrip is a must.
The original story was all three trucks were heading to a solar farm so they might have just been on the right route, just ran out of talent. the tow company wasn’t much better, that trailer ended up rolling over as they tried to winch it out. I’m sure turning a simple winch out into a roll over recovery sure helped their pocket books.
