There have been 3 main rumors going around here lately. No inverters in Swift trucks (not even plug-in types) No GPS in Swift trucks Must log the time while scanning logs/trips through TransFlo at truckstops I haven't heard anything about these policies from my DM or terminal. If you have some bona fide proof, please offer it!
Fontana sent out the message to their people on the Qcom on the GPS's. Wanna call my former mentor? He'll be rolling through my hometown in 1 1/2hrs. He is a L/O he noticed that they weren't reimbursing for scale tickets. They told him unless it is on the preplan, they won't pay! One thing I've noticed is they make up the rules as they go. Logging your time with Transflo? New to me. Maybe so they don't have to pay $.30 a page and get you to do it at a terminal for free. Inverters? Never read that in my driver manual. Was told if you have a CPAP you can idle all you want, and they company will install your inverter for free.
so far i've been reimbused for every scale. However, i have a neat little guage on hte dash that shows drive axle airbag pressure. I've found that if i'm close to 70psi, i'm right around 33-34k.
Just graduated last week from Swift. The word is NO INVERTERS! If you do need them for medical reasons, you must talk to the shop people about what it is you need to run in the truck and they will tell you what size you need. Then YOU must buy it and give it to the shop to install it. Bottom Line. If you are caught with one, you will be fired.
Even the small plug in type? Read that in the driver's handbook? If not would have grounds for wrongful termination.
Safety tolerates the small ones, or at least the guy in Atlanta does. It is the shop that seems to have a problem with us having them. As for the drivers manual, mine says I can get reimbursed for showers, truck washes, oil, washer fluid, and cleaning supplies. It has been a while since I have been reimbursed for any of those.
they tolerate anything that can be plugged into your cigarette/12V outlets in the cabin of the truck. Don't let anybody on here tell you "you'll get fired"......cause you wont. Can you? Sure.....Swift can pull out the Driver's Handbook, and toss probably 80% of the drivers for breaking some policy if they really want. Trust me, if Swift wants you gone as a driver, they'll find a way to term you with cause. Most company trucks have a sticker on the driver window that says, "you are responsible for the safe operation of this truck and keeping it clean" (basicly). So you present your truck into the shop....they could fire you for a dirty truck. how many have they term'ed for a dirty truck?
tell ya something else i'm going to start doing. Since my T660 dont have a wabasto type heater, i'm having a 2000watt inverter hard-wired onto the truck (at a kenworth dealership), then i'll buy a space heater. Idling will cost me atleast $1200 in fuel alone to idle for 8 hrs a day for 90 days. the cost of buying/installing an inverter and the $20 for the tiny space heater.....$400-500. (ooops REDD....are my figures too low again? should they be $550-600?)
roadpro? might want to get a different one. roadpro sucks. like buying 'quality' electronics at wal-mart.......most of the stuff is junk.
