Are Swift Drivers Allowed to have CB's????

    I'm not here to bash swift, i just have a question....Are Swift Drivers Allowed to have a CB in the truck?


    I ask because yet again, i needed to talk to swift while going down the road and NO CB!

    He was hauling a Explosives load (placard 1.4 Exsplosives) As I was passing him yesterday the placard flew off the side of his trailer. He didnt respond on the CB, So i pull up along side and wave my mic and he shakes his head....


    I passed him same truck # yet again today and he is STILL missing the placard!


    I've had issues trying to let swift drivers know about problems like this before.... so whats the deal?:biggrin_2558:

    Corollary question...why does the insertion of a CB radio into the cab of a tractor cause a simultaneous insertion of a backwoods 3rd grade educated hillybilly gene into the larynx of 98.7% of cb users? Even those formerly raised in California, New York or Iowa? Anyone? :biggrin_2554:

    Seriously, cannot say why. But Swift has no problem at all with 'em in trucks company or otherwise. Perhaps pointing frantically at the guy's trailer while alternately pointing at CB mike may get the point across. Or maybe not. At least you tried to do the right thing for the guy.

    Personally, I leave mine off except at shippers or consignees or occasionally if I am curious about traffic. Otherwise never. Listened once or twice and I actually heard a snap crackle and pop that I thought was static until I realized it was brain cells actually exploding from exposure.

    It doesn't cost more to go back for seconds, thirds, fourths at the buffet-- it is all you can eat for a flat price.

    You did try to get his attention, but I hope you didn't broadcast that his placard fell off or his truck company name or direction of heading for the law enforcement to hear you tattletaling on a fellow driver. If it is a true safety problem like chunks of flat tire flying off, yes advertise that because it is dangerous. Tail lite not burning, missing mudflap, placard fell off, SHHHHHH driver already knows and if he doesn't will know at next stop.
