you were one of the good guys that would help a driver out, when i ran the same route and got to know my customers i would know who do what and who would'nt. if you could get somebody to hold 3 or 4 skids while you got the rest of your freight off and come back and pick up the return freight and pickup that customer's shipment for the day also, everybody happy.
I worked for R&L for almost 3 years and never had any major problems. I just got tired of doing LtL and found a nice tanker job. You have to be a people person to do LtL. When you come in contact with 20 different customers a day sometimes, you have to have tuff skin. Out of 20 customers, you can count on at least 2 or 3 people having a bad day. You can't let that 1 or 2 bad customers ruin your day. Like catfish said, build relationships with your regular customers and your job will be much easier.
2tall,did you work there when they moved the richmond terminal? the new terminal was pretty nice.the only thing wrong with the old terminal was trying to get across that four lane highway with a set of pups. but china grove to richmond was an easy run, especially when they put that bypass around greensboro.
LoL...Yea I've seen a couple of guys drop a set of pup's in that intersection. I worked in the office on night dispatch, in the late 90's at the old terminal. When I came back and started driving for them, it was at the new terminal. It was a real easy off the highway and back on terminal, until they built the Pilot across the street. Still not a bad stop, just a lot more truck traffic at the light and 4wheelers trying to cut in front of ALL of us.
