Thanksgiving I had my FM ask safety abt turning my truck up to 63/63 and they shrieked... Luckily the shop did it w/o needing to talk to safety. Don't know about this 65 madness but wouldn't mind a few extra mph.
according to the post on the USA Truck Drivers facebook page they have turned peoples trucks down to 61 in the last two weeks per orders of John Simone,
Just curious how do you guys stay awake running that slow?. I'd be in the ditch with the dirty side up asleep at the wheel. While i'm not a speed demon. But some of these companies are a rolling hazard. Seen several in the last few years that were rear ended by 4 wheelers. I understand saving fuel but there getting ridiculous with the speed seen several prime trucks with cars wedged under the trailer. 57mph trucks and 80 mph speed limits is a big speed differential.
I feel ya dude, I really do... Idk I just drive and hope one day it'll change, maybe we could get some states to pass some min/max speeds for truck or something
They do that to my truck and I'll ask em where they want it parked. 10 years of commercial driving with no accidents ever. (Knock on wood) I too understand fuel economy, but it shouldn't be coming from my pocket to do it. It's bad enough as it is. But I wouldn't listen to anything from that Facebook page. Look where that has gotten some people
Reycer, I said the same thing (about the where you want it parked) when my old company talked about putting cameras in. Well they put one in my truck and I quit a couple months later. I can tell you the speed I go does not change my MPG very much (sure every tiny bit "saves" the company money on 1500+ trucks). By that I mean running 65/66 or running 70. Now when I go up to 72/73 it does hurt the mileage a little. The biggest for me is the type of trailer(s) I pull and the weight/grades that affect my fuel economy.
Your exactly right. However, when I get slowed down, that cuts into my pocket book and that's when I have a problem.
