yes and the tax advantage. A trac lease is 100 percent tax deductible. We're ownership is it appreciative and which is done overa yearly term .

 

Any idea what the succeed:fail ratio is in the Choice program? Some of the non-SNI companies' lease agreements almost prevent success for the lease holder.

 

You'll never get an accurate number.

What's considered a fail? If a guy was doing good on the lease bit got offered a local job making the same money so he turned the truck in would that be a fail? Not on my book but others say yes because he didn't complete the lease.

 

We had an ICA GENT in our orientation who claimed a 62% retention rate on his board if that gives you an idea.

 

The difference is success or failure is based on you and not the company who feeds you the loads ... You choose and have a choice here so the success rate is much higher than a traditional LP cause your the dispatcher and the company does not have much interaction in your success or failure except giving you the tools to succeed

A traditional mileage LP is a much different beast

 

That's the conclusion I came to after reading these Choice forums. It's the one aspect that makes me lean toward Choice as my first choice, even though ownership is not a goal of mine; traditional mileage leases are different and I would have to be very confident of high, consistent miles if I was going to be the guy paying for the fuel and such. Of course, a lot would depend on the expenses the company picked up, too.

Decisions, decisions...

 

At most companies about the only expense they may pick up is the plate ... ( maybe ) other than that the costs are relatively the same .

Difference being stuck on a mileage rate vs picking a higher rate off a load board for a higher over all average

A company who pays for a plate is pennies compared to what you could make over and above a mileage contract on choice

 

I am retired and collecting both a pension and Social Security, and my health insurance is taken care of, so my income needs are probably very different from most drivers. Starting January 1, I will have a higher no-penalty income max (a Social Security thing) and on October 1, 2015, all income restrictions are removed. For me, comfort is important and fuel economy is my number 1 consideration, so having a new(er) truck with an APU of some kind is critical. Paying more for it is a worthwhile expense.

The only downside so far is all the northeast travel...

 

I disagree. They have to have a certain percentage of successful applicants or the All powerful swamp in D.C. will shut the program down. However, good luck getting a percentage.
