You aren't missing anything. I hate them, myself. And ours are decked out.

another vote that the freight shakers are junk. i killed the turbo on the mack so i'm patiently awaiting its return. playing truck roulette in the mean time. i took that FL down the aa in ky last night. the 670k mp7 mack pulls hills 10+ mph faster than that junk 266k FL. both 10 spd and i know that road. pathetic.

hell i'll take a million mile sterling tonight before i take that FL again.

I liked Sterlings...I drove a few in regular rotation, with Cat motors. Solid little trucks, except the dashboard seemed to be a patchwork of plastic bits that was always cracked and rattled. Still got a soft spot for CH Macks, got a good bit of seat time in one of those at a prior gig (I was the only one who would drive it...ugly but did 72mph all day long).

Got to go to laramie (wyoming) last night. NO, there's no terminal in Laramie. Had to go run up there to rescue a set of trailers because the guy was broken down (emissions of course, 100k mile truck (basically brand new). He's at one of the truck stops, says "oh yeah, pretty obvious where I am". Come in, there's a set of trailers from FX. PUll up, nope, those aren't the trailers i"M looking for. Lot of FX trailers around. Even at midnight.

Very profitable night for me. (I get extra money for a "rescue"

LONG night though. Actually just bobtailed home from my last stop. (Boss said I could) instead of going an hour plus back to the shop (at 6:am, traffic starts at 5:30) and then another hour plus back to my house. Nah, I got space for a bobtail.

I forgot the best part (sorry, just woke up)

I Hook up these trailers (that have come across the country and are headed yet further east). (the set is built, just a hook). Hook up the lines, supply air, throw the 4ways and do a quick walk around.

Air is just hissing out of the gladhand. I mean you can hear it.
    wiggle wiggle
    set and reset it
    nope, still hissing.
Pull air, grab a screwdriver, pop the old seal out, put in a new one. (literally 90 seconds, took longer to find the screwdriver). hook the gland hand back up, no hissing.

    I mean, really???????

I get that all the time. I hook a set of trailers and the con gear gladhand leaks like a mofo. Change out the seal or sometimes just pull out the edge of the seal that is folded into the gladhand and good to go. Most drivers can't be bothered to check their equipment out. Leave it for the next guy to worry about.

    @JPenn ,
Today I saw a set of R&L Carriers Thruway Doubles on 190 that highway out side of Buffalo that goes around the down town area of Buffalo. I thought to my self "No that can't be right, he's not on I-90 which is the actual Thruway. Is that right can you take a set of pikers on 190 outside of Buffalo?

Also are 28' triples illegal on the Thruway? Kind of funny how pikers are legal, but triples aren't.

From what I can tell the big piker hauling outfits are G&C Foods, MTI the mail carriers and possibly Rite Aid.
Also funny that Tops Markets is alive and well in New York state they went out of business and got bought out of business here in Cleveland 10+ years ago.
