I'm looking at some used tractors that came out of western express, FL DD15, DT12, 380k miles, etc. the specs on the truck are a complete match for what I'm looking for, but I can't get a maintenance history out of the dealer, but I can see it was a western express truck after some sleuthing. I did get the recall / warranty sheet, but am curious how well this company maintains their tractors. Thanks guys!

I would imagine they have a regular pm schedule like any other big company. Only thing to consider is the quality of their drivers. I talked to a guy one time who told me he recovered one of their abandoned trucks and apperently the driver had been grilling inside the truck.

    LOL.

Is there much damage a driver can be doing to the engine and transmission in these newer dd15s and dt12s? I would think as a larger company they would have set the computers to minimize damage and optimize the mpg, but who knows. I will go look inside them to see what kind of wear is on the interior. From pictures they look nice inside.

Western Express PM methods include ripped and smashing body panels off regularly to get new ones.

How do you think the drivelines are with those trash hole companies? No way would i trust the equipment being taken care of in any fashion.

I have never seen a western Express driver rolling the hood for a pretrip or checking the oil.... Ever.

If any Western Express trucks that you're going to buy used were serviced out of the Pennsylvania terminal Run for the hills however the best terminal you can possibly get a truck used that was service from was there Nashville yard now they have got some fantastic technicians there no I'm a driver for Western Express I'm not a technician and obviously downtime and all that s*** I know firsthand and everybody I spoke into plus to use trucks and I've driven while I was a company driver with Western Express fuel broke down in there garbage that ones that came out of the Pennsylvania yard now any truck to comes out of that Nashville Tennessee is the way to go

I've maybe seen a couple pop the hood on a pre-trip the whole entire driving career and that only came from independent owner-operators

Sadly I work for Western Express out of CA haven't had a pm and my cruise control doesn't work put in for repairs 2 months ago and was told I didn't want to make my DM mad by doing so, oil looks like tar but I still pop the hood to check during pre and post trip. If other drivers aren't doing it I guess they don't feel it's worth it for 22-34 cents a mile

    That is absolutely unacceptable
If your dispatch manager is getting mad at you for wanting to do a preventative maintenance on your truck and have some s*** done on it that is absolutely unacceptable and it's actually hurting the company because we need quality vehicles on the road to stay efficient and productive in the industry and also by doing so it keeps us competitive so I would immediately put in for a request to have a new dispatch manager immediately I'm talking right now actually no wait till tomorrow on Monday call your recruiter or simply send your guy dispatch dude a message saying you want a new one but if you don't want that confrontation at all then I would simply contact your recruiter but these trucks need to be attended to and that's absolutely outrageous they haven't called you in and routed you to a terminal that have that done in fact I would call the terminal and get with the service manager over there and make an appointment then tell your dispatch manager you need to get routed ASAP another way you can go about doing it is simply lie and say your truck broke down and then have everything done by taking the back door that way but I would get rid of your dispatch manager and that Miles pay is disgusting I would hop on a dedicated account
