Apparently dot is doing a nationwide inspection blitz the week of June 6, does anyone have experience with this? Is it at weigh stations only? Do they do it at night? I was thinking of doing night driving that week so I don’t have to deal with it
My personal experience is the scales close and MI DOT opens in rest areas. Pulling trucks in and inspecting them. Personally I never cared as the trucks I drive are legal.
Night driving may help avoid the time spent in an inspection. Expect temporary inspection stations to be set up in unexpected locations. Also expect to be pulled over for a road side inspection anywhere. The best option is to make sure your truck and trailer and paperwork is all in proper shape. Make sure your load securement is all ship shape. Don't invite an inspection with a dirty rig, trash on the dash board, etc. If you are inspected the best course of action is to be courteous and professional.
They are generally 72 hour inspections, which means around the clock. Generally nation and Canada wide too.
Not limited to weigh stations and they do it at night. Some states start doing it a couple of days/weeks early. Just make sure your steering and suspension isn't worn out. I think they are too busy to nitpick but I'm sure someone has another story.
I'm actually hoping for one. I haven't had one inspection since I got my truck 8 months ago. I need an inspection before things start wearing out.
3 day fishing time is here. Love these days. You guys drive , nothing will happen if you are legal... I am an immigrant US citizen, looking like somebody from Middle East and I have California Plates and sign on truck. In short suspicion some one.
