I sent my application to WSE yesterday and they emailed me back saying that they received my application and included an attachment with a "DAC release form". My question is, what do I do with it? Do I fill out the top portion and send it back? Is it only to be filled out by companies that I might have worked for where I drove a commercial vehicle? Do I send it to all former employers?

I know this is really dumb, but I'm clueless. I am totally new to trucking, which I'm sure is completely obvious, so any help would be great. Thanks! :biggrin_2552:

Basically, It gives them permission to check your DAC/USIS report. Fill out the required portion of the letter and fax/send it back to them.

    techiekate29 Thanks this.

Remember: the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked. But back to your question about the DAC. If you've never driven for a OTR(over the road) company, then you don't have a DAC. Anyone else want to help explain any further on what a DAC really is?

I'm assuming then its just the top portion where they want you signature. I REALLY appreciate the info!

So since I've never driven before should I email him back and tell him that or just go ahead and sign it and send it back?

They will want to verify that you have a clean record. The best way for them to do that, is to send in for a copy of your DAC, and they will get a statement back saying no record exists for this person.
Trucking companies may file with DAC after a driver has had or caused a major issue. Such as a wreck, or abandoned a truck/trailer somewhere they shouldn't have.
Other trucking companies will check an applicant to see if they have a record for doing things that shouldn't have been done.

Sign it and send it back. It's just part of your "pre-hire" paperwork. If you don't fill it out, just like all the rest of the paperwork you will be getting, they won't consider hiring you.

Your telling them you have not driven before, really does not mean anything to them. Anyone can say that, and if they HAVE driven before, and have a terrible driving record, they probably would try to say that.

Google USIS or DAC. Either one will give you a look at the website that tells about them.

Thanks to you both on helping to explain about the DAC.

Everyone else has already answered your question. But remember, you must sign the form for every company you may work for in the future.
