I see a lot of ELD exemption applications on The Federal Register.

I transitioned our fleet to full ELD last July, having ran AOBRD for a year in advance to get everyone accustomed to using electronic devices.

I would not want to be in a position where my drivers are just now learning how to use and live with an ELD.

The biggest hurdle are drivers who do not want to play nicely and throw their arms in the air when the ELD does not behave how they expect. This will not be an option after the 17th and those drivers will have to choose whether they enjoy making money or get ####canned for becoming a liability.

All Depends- Year of their trucks- How much experience they have- Lot of other ways to make Great money without an ELD.....

I personally don;'t use one- and wont....Make great money 4 days a week, Then again- My sense of operation surpasses many minimal obligations set forth by state and federal agencies.

Long story short- The motoring public is safe around me......and I dont let the art of a computer dictate my day. And no, I dont work 14 hours a day- 10 tops.

Sad thing is, by company policy I still have to use a full ELD even though I stay in a 5 mile radius and have a 12 hour day....
Oh well, all that's annoying about that is I can't skip the 30 minute break.

    Yuck...

At least I get 4 or more hours of windshield time.

I don't mind. It does get boring at times but I stay moving so at least I'm loosing weight. I do that 5 miles 14 times a day so I do get some windshield time, just broken up in small chunks.

That's better than what ive seen recently. My company just started a little over two weeks ago, its been a real crap show so far in the rush to get all of the trucks switched over.

Sounds about like me right now. I've ran on paper logs for a week so far, since they don't have an ELD available for my trainers truck yet. A lot of other drivers have been having issues with malfunctioning ELD's as well, anywhere from not receiving loads, to the ELD not recording Duty status correctly, to just straight up failing to turn on.
The company is using Maven ELD if that helps with description.
