I’m driving a ‘15 Mack with a 12 speed auto. Works well for me. Shifts smooth and you can throw it in manual mode for going down hold etc No prob
Volvo 500hp D13 with 13 speed I-shift. Fantastic combo. The only thing I would change would be to add the extra low crawler gear (14 speed). More hp would be nice too but not available.
I didn't like the 12 speed auto in the freighliners I used to drive but I could deal with them. This darn 10 speed Eaton auto though makes me feel like a new driver every time I try to back up. I just can't get it to work smoothly. I sure miss the 18 speed w900 I was running out in the oilfield!
I have never heard anything good about the Eaton auto. It is an add on unit that doesn't seem to work well with anything.
Anyone ever driven an old autoshift truck or whatever it’s called? Clutch with a transmission that’s automatic. Worst transmission ever. It’s the worst of both worlds, you still have a clutched paired with a dangerously slow transmission.
Aren't they all autoshift with a clutch? The torque converter doesn't exist in the truck world, as far as I know.
Had one like 8 years ago in a UPS package car. It was the ####ing worst. Xy solenoid would crap out monthly, if you were going up any kind of hill it would get stuck in gear, it would go into neutral at red lights and then start grinding when you tried to take off so you would have to shut the truck off and re start it to get it to go into gear. You would be in 6th gear by the time you were doing 2.8mph so it would only take you like 3 miles to get up to 50mph lol. Good times
. I’ve got two new 2020 Mack Anthems Mp8 and Mdrive they are synced real nice. It’s the same motor and trans as Volvo just painted different colors. Mp8 is D13 and Mdrive is Ishift in a Volvo. Hated buying automatics but they just don’t teach how to drive manual anymore and I’m tired of having drivers blow through clutches. Wish companies would teach manual it’s such a disservice to the new generation of drivers.
