Cb antenna

I had put a 30 inch shaft on my new brownie cb antenna. Now SWR is over 3. How much should I cut from the stinger please? Thank you

 

There is no magic formula you just need to start trimming in 1/8 inch increments until you get it down. Did you have the antenna on without 30" shaft and swr was good? So you ruled out a ground issue?

 

Don't touch it until you check your ground potential and have an antenna analyzer handy, otherwise you are likely to cut it too short.

 

Thank you. The ground is good cause the antenna I got on truck now has a 1.3 SWR. I had a low SWR with the short 6 inch shaft on my brownie. I think I have to shorten stinker to compensate for long shaft. Thank you very much. I'll let you know SWR after I get it done. Thanks

 

Yes slowly trim your "stinker" if you want but im sure da mrs would preferr you trim the stinger..

 

What will I need to buy to cut stinger ? I have no ideas!!

 

Some are easier to cut than others but you can
Bolt cutters
Cutting wheel adapter for a hand drill
Cuttin torch..
Hack saw
