I went to school with central refrigerated in march and did not pass the pre trip test. I took a break from my trucking dream to work in a warehouse and get caught up on money. Come August ill have the opportunity to go out with my dad who's trucked for nearly 20 years and go with him as long as I need to to pass my cdl test. My question is how hard will it be for me to find a job trucking without having "graduated" a cdl school. Does anyone know any companies that hire drivers with no experience and no schooling? Also, if there is no company that would take me without schooling would another beginner company like prime take me knowing of my failing central? I will not lie to a company about what happened in central. Any help is appreciated. I'm sure I could get on with a bad company like cr England but that would be an absolute last resort. Prime called me back when I was already with central wanting me to start. I don't know if my failing will make them turn away from me after approving me 4 months ago.
From doing a lot of research and reading, it looks like some companies in the oilfield will hire the right person with no CDL, help them get their CDL, and then employ them. So I'd guess opportunities might be there for a CDL holder without formal training. Just an idea. I'll be watching this thread. I've always wondered what my possibilities would be if I just rented a truck, had someone show me what I needed to do to pass the CDL test, and then went ahead and got it without formal training.
You failed one time,I say go with Prime try it again and study while you're waiting for school to start and also ask for help, tips and advice from your dad.
How do you fail a pre trip? Just curious. No slander meant. I've never taken a truck school so I'm probably doing wrong.
I did not pass the physical inspection on the brakes. I completely forgot the brakes on the trailer which caused me to miss points and not pass.
I agree with Pattyj.... There are a couple things to consider.... when I first graduted and got my CDL.. I got on with an owner operator pulling flatbed.. seemed like a great opportunity for me... only, it wasnt.. he paid me cash... and although I actually got some great experience... it didnt count... I spent nearly 6 months out on the road with him and none of it counted a verifiable experience... and since I had no verifiable experience for 6 months after graduating and getting my CDL.. I needed to take a refresher course to be hired on anywhere... So, although you will get some training and experience out with your dad... you need to make sure it can be verified... so, will you be on the pay roll... if not, then it wont count... if you really want to be a truck driver then dont give up... just because you failed at central.. Try prime.. or another....
They may because i cancel my orientation date once with prime i went to werner and when i called them back they told me that they are not interested nd i told him to kiss my ###.
