crete questions

hey my husband is trying to go to crete we would like to know some things before hand.Like do they give you the run around out on the road or do the miles keep coming.what is home time like.do they get you home when they say or are u on the road for five weeks at a time.if u had a few mistakes in your past like moving around to a few companys in three years will they still give you a chance.how good is there lease program.you know the basic questions.please someone answer soon before he makes a mistake.and if you have good things to say please by all means tell us

 

Of late, I've been reading some things here that make me think that Crete is a slowly sinking ship. That's too bad, really, as Crete was one of the best carriers out there back when I drove for them in 2002. Surely that big wreck in Florida last year isn't turning the Dr. Jekyl company into Mr. Hyde.

When I drove for CCC, the miles were good. However, home time was an issue. One tour I took saw me hop in the truck at my home terminal in Salt Lake, head out down the road, and not return for 49 days.

Maybe you should look into Roehl right now. They may hire your husband. I just don't know about Crete these days. Some doubt has been set up in my mind, thanks to what I'm reading here.

 

Watch out for those lease programs with anyone.

 

I just mailed off a letter to Duane Acklie this morning describing my circumstance and mentioning about the public (professional truckers) changing view of Crete due to management and communication mis-fires in the past year. It will be interesting to see if he responds with anything substantial to say about it.bb.

Thanks for the replies. So far as of yesterday they called him and said that he was approved for the southeast regional solo. They are suppose to call back today with more details. It says usual home time out 7-10 days, home one for every six out. Anyone ever work this run? Thanks.

 

Cretes problems aren't from the wreck in fla... it's from the management. By what I've heard from drivers that have been here a while it's been going down hill for a while. Duane Acklie isn't running the show like he use to... He has put his daughter's husband in charge. And just like any other business, when the next generation takes over, they micro-manage it into the ground. I think we'd be better off with his daughters running the show, they say that they are pretty good at the biz.

As for home time, they want you out a minimum of 2 weeks (national) I'm not sure how the regional is for miles. You get 1 day off for every 7 out. The biggest way to get miles is ask for them... If they don't hear from you, they think your happy with the miles you are getting. Then you stay around that many miles.

My biggest gripe is the equipment. Typical fleet spec'd budget trucks. That love to break down.(if you scan this forum I have a few posts about Crete)

If you get an answer, it will be a shock. You probably have a better chance getting an appointment to see the pope(no insult intended) It's that Duane Acklie isn't around as much as he use to be. He has other matters to attend to. He has placed his Son-in-law Tonn Ostergard in charge. That is the whole problem. Tonn has no clue who makes a trucking company succeed. He is micro-managing this company into the ground. We all wish Duane was still here, it was a much better place to work.

 

Well, after 2 trips back and forth to Knoxville. (Which is About an hour and 15 min away from us) all the paperwork and testing is done. We sat up there at there terminal/shop from 8 am till 5 pm hoping for my hubby to get a temporary driver number to be able to bring his truck home so he can drive it to Georgia on Tuesday for orientation. Well, we had to end up leaving after 5 with no truck. Now we have to go back up there either today or Monday to get the truck. He's going to be doing the GM Dedicated Route. So wish us luck! He took a $.02 cut in pay for it, but they say the miles are better and more so it should even out. If it doesn't work out, we can always switch to regional or national.
