Well, I gotta call Driver Solutions tommorrow before noon and confirm my start date, March 9. I'm gonna ask some tough questions and hope for some honesty. I want to know if PAM is sending trainees home and the wait for a trainer. I've read some scary posts on here about PAM and USA. I'll go with either one that I can make a half way decent living with. I know D/S job is just to get us in there but it doesn't look good for them if new drivers can't get a job with a company they represent. Honesty seems to be in short supply in the trucking industry but all they have to do is say they are having a tough time placing drivers and hey, i'll appreciate the truth and look elsewhere.
Hello I wanted to know where you saw that about Pam and USA sending people home? I'm going to DS soon in Springfield MO, and have been picked up by USA. ANd ahve you found anything on here good or bad about DS? Thanks and good luck with your training...
I waited about 2 weeks for a trainer in June 2006 for PAM. I could afford it and enjoyed the time off. On 6-6-06 I drove to Hell, Michigan for the party. That alone made me so glad I had to wait. 666 I was in Hell. I got a coffee cup, but they were out of t-shirts.
Look under the USA and PAM threads in the motor carrier heading. There was a post just a couple of days ago about layoffs with PAM and things aren't much better under the USA posts. I'm planning on going to the Newport Arkansas school. I've heard a lot of good things about the D/S? network so i'm hoping the economy picks up soon so we can all make a decent living out there.
I have just Graduated from Driver Solutions in Indianapolis, IN and go to Arkansas on Saturday to start my orientation With USA Trucking. C1 and D/S are very helpful i learned a lot from them !!
newport is a very good school. you will get LOTS of seat time there on the range. most of the instructors are old retired drivers with a good feel of the business you can also find alot of info on newport,DS and USA in my posts... http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...new-drivers/17912-leaving-in-the-morning.html
