Hello everyone! Just recently joined here, but got 1y10m experience. Been lurking for a number of years before i started trucking, but happy to join the conversation now. I'm based out of SLC and currently looking for work. If y'all know any dry van regional companies that work with my experience level, let me know. Been getting turned down by a lot that want exactly 2 years or more. Anyways, happy to be here
You are looking for a CDL job -- in a declining freight market (recession). Freight volumes are down quite markedly from say, a year ago. Thus -- if you still have less than 2 years experience -- you are indeed behind the 8-ball, in the current CDL job market. Suggestion: to turn the tables on this problem -- if you don't already have them -- go back, & pick up those CDL endorsements --> tanker, hazmat...& also, doubles/triples. You will need them, to stand out better from other job applicants. Next -- look for jobs that actually USE those endorsements. Looking for jobs in general freight is a really sucky strategy now. -- Lual
Welcome aboard, we're all bozos on this bus. I'd say, 1y10mo. is plenty of experience, and meet with the company IN PERSON. On the internet, you are just a #. Companies are so strapped for drivers, 22mo. is close enough. In central Co. there are all kinds of T/T jobs. Fuel, water, flatbed are the biggies, even the P.O. is looking for drivers. An 8 hour turn to Denver once a night, new Mack, pay started at $66,000/year, went unfilled for months. We have a member here named Chinatown, and the best there is for any jobs. Bigger companies have a little more flexibility on experience requirements. But with small carriers, its the Insurance company that calls the shot
Yep. 25+ 2 years experience and never slept in a chair or anywhere uncomfortable, and can smoke cigarettes, but can’t inhale.
Definitely a great place to work if you live in the area. They really flip the script on trucking companies.
probably good you're being turned down trust me any company turning down drivers probably arent worth working for and they're probably also turning you down because of the weather out there and they dont know how you'll react to it.Just my opinion
