I seen load offered on internet Truckstop. Said it was hazmat on flatbed. I don’t have hm permits but I do have hazmat on license. Hauled crude oil for years. The lady said their company isn’t hazmat certified but have one driver who does haul it every so often. That doesn’t sound right. Or do I not have to register since it’s not something I always do?
That's just a HM registration. Table one HM [5 million insurance] requires the carrier to obtain a separate HM Permit and a nasty roadside history can then really bite you. Since January 1, 2005, intrastate, interstate, and foreign motor carriers transporting certain types and amounts of hazardous materials (HM) are required to hold a Federal Hazardous Materials Safety Permit (HMSP) issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Improvements to the HMSP Program were made to provide enhanced and continual oversight of HMSP carriers. Safety Measurement System (SMS) data is now being used to continually monitor HMSP carrier performance and identify HMSP carriers for intervention.
