I didnt say there is a ripoff... I stated what I found on Holland.

I'll make it easy,POSTED 2007

I called Holland Enterprises in Mapleton ND for a trucking job. Recruiter (Ken) told me there were 35 new trucks available to drive. On the first day of orientation Ken and Denzie asked 4 of us that were new if we needed to go home after the orientation, and 3 said yes. Denzie said he would tell dispatch. Tues the next day we were asked again if anyone needed to go home after orientation. The answer was yes for 3 of us and Denzie again said he would tell dispatch.

Wednesday last day of orientation, Denzie tells all 4 of us that they have no new trucks to put us in. 3 of us get 2000's and one gets a 2002 truck. After that we were told to go and see dispatch. Dispatch asked if I needed to get home to Illinois and I told them yes. They stated they would get me home so I could get all the supplies I needed such as my clothes, tools and sleeping gear. I then got dispatched to MN and was then told by Denzie that Holland has forced dispatched. I then took the load to the consignee and was told to unhook and they would unload. Then I was told to bob-tail down to the truck stop for my 10 hr break. After my 10 hrs were up dispatch put a load on me to go to Los Angles, CA.

I did not acknowledge the load or accept it. I was without a trailer at the truck stop. I did not have a load.

In oreintation, Denzie made a statement to all 4 of the drivers that stated: "if anyone just quits on him he will ###### you on your DAC and he stated he had already done it to 7 other drivers and they cannot get a job now." (he was smiling about it and thought that was funny).

The drivers Denzie told this to was:

Sandy, Mike, Dan and myself.

Alan (Brad)
Centralia, Illinois
U.S.A.

Your information is in fact true!
Not only were you with the group of 4 who we're told that you would be subjected to reporting to dac services-usis in orienation.
But so we're we five (5).
Mr. Denzil edie absolutely, unequivocally, did say this!

This is all I found, besides what is stated on there website.

i have been with them for awhile. They are miles ahead of the last company I worked for. They are going through some changes with the elogs but the miles are there.

They are fairly small and they dispatch by area so you are not assigned to one dispatcher. I personally prefer this way of doing things and I often go days ( I have even gone weeks) with out having to talk to anyone from the company, just doing the loads and paying for lumpers out of my advance. I wish I had more in the bank but them again the reason i don't is because I spent the money on new breaks, tires, and lower end rebuild to get the warrenty detroit is offering.

I did well enough as a company driver to decide to buy one.I ran team before coming to Holland, even though I made less p/m 32 vs 36 (split) I took home more as a solodriver with Holland. Now as an owner I get percentage(75%) . I think that I have been doing well with them compared to the many horror stories out there.

There are some family dynamics at work in the company since it was started by the old man and is moving onto the younger generation. In my opinion it has been good. They are a 9 to 5 comapany and expect you to get by without someone holding your hand but if you have over two years experience I would say they are worth checking out.

Hometime is not something I disagree with them about much since I own and I stay out for long periods. I have looked into other parts of trucking but if I was going to continue with reefer I would never leave these guys. They are definantly OTR though. The trucks all have apu. I have met many drivers that have been with them for long periods.

I am not sure how it is going to shake out with the elogs but many companies have these now. I just don't like them and I wish I had known they were on thier way when i signed the line but friends of mine on it have been doing as many miles as me so...

Bottom line I am looking at my pay summery as an o/o and my net pay after fuel and advances taken off is 4657. I have to set aside some of that for payments maintenance insurance and so on but I think they do alright. I have had better pay periods (2week) and I have had worse. One major positive thing compared to the company I used to work for is that the miles are much more accurate here compared to the large company I started with.

I have read that thing about Denzil before. I see what that dude was talking about but honestly I get along with Denzil and the other safety guy there. Mostly because I worry about what people do instead of what they say and frankly the orientation was honest, fast and out of the way ASAP. I didn't get hung up on stuff there cause I wasn't worried about abandoning trucks and having them kiss my ### for coming to them.

I'll be even more frank, I am still there even after having an incident that would have led to being fired at the last company I worked at. I think Denzil likes to lay down the law at the start, I mean think about it , it is probably a good thing the guy that wrote that didn't stick around since he sounds like a pain in the ###. I have never head of them chasing you on the dac for leaving ( now abandoning a truck will get you I don't care where you go) In fact in my class was a returning driver who had left and was coming back so to me it seemed obvious that Denzil was refering to drivers that try to screw the company on the way out. I have turned down loads before without too big a hassle but most of the time they are offering what they have.

Well I didn't expect to write this much...I just realized that I am happier with my company that I thought I was( I was out for a long time and the biz was grinding me down some I guess) ...Just to wrap up-we go to the same places that the other reefer guys go to, but I think we have a simpler pay set up for o/o though probably a higher entrace fee ( you have to bring some money to the table) I can't stress enough that I don't feel like my company is trying to screw me here which is more than I can say for some of the others.

In someways I think that I would have done pretty well staying a company driver too. I hope that helps. I don't jump companies so I don't have a lot of comparison. If you have some specific questions put them up and I might check back

Seems to me like after 10 hours the trailer left at the consignee would be empty and available to load .

The Denton terminal is closed.I worked there ten months last year made just under $48,000.00 best driving job I ever had.I only sit 3 days total and one of those was thanksgiving.Once they know they can depend on you they preplanned you 95% of the time.
Only bad I can say their shop foreman is a real PRICK and he has a young lady working with him who is a PRICK-ETTE and if you have any issues with them they will lie and stab you in the back and the owner likes them more than he does the drivers.
I do highly recommend Holland it is the most fun I ever had trucking I ran in every one of the lower 48 states in a year and they don't run Canada.Just hope you never break down and if you do take notes are record all your conversations.

I appreciate the info. I live in DFW but don't have anywhere to park the truck. I work for a small company as well and they sound pretty comparable to each other. Only thing is Holland has better trucks...much better. They run in/out of DFW alot so that's another thing that caught my attention.

Thanks again !

If you go up there I would take your own vehicle as I did because if you get fired it is hard to get what most drivers carry on a buss.

They fire a few drivers a month most with shop issues.

Yea I'm pretty much limited to companies that have yards in DFW. My personal vehicle and the boss mans equipment safe and secure when not in use. Out of curiousity, what do they fire for ? Running low on oil, dinging the trucks up ? Or the classic and popular "forgot to write er up for a PM ?"
