Hi All. I know that Swift doesn't want any inverters that have to be permanently wired into the truck. I'm looking to you Swift vets for suggestions on power inverters. I'm looking for the highest continuous KW units that will run from the 12vdc power outlet. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks JerryT
I'm using the 300w Power Driver available at most truck stops for around $40. It plugs into the power outlets, has two power outlets on it along with a usb port and so far works pretty well.

One word of warning...to get the full 375 watts, it must use a hardwired plug...that having been said, using a cigarette lighter plug, it should be running pretty cool, since it will max out at about 50% capacity...so it should have a LONG life...the Tiny inverters have a short life when run at 100% The down sides is it would be hard to hide....and it is not the cheapest!! Edit..they also have a 150 watt version....that should make full power....but will be running at its max capacity.
menards, and get a Peak 400w inverter for about $40-50. plugs into your cigarette lighter. as far as bigger inverters, you cannot have anything that is hard-wired onto your battery (in a company truck). if you are found with one like that, you'll be terminated.
I recommend the Cobra 400 Watt that plugs into your 12 volt accessory. This one has two household electrical outlets and one USB outlet which I use to power the GPS next to it.I can charge my Bluetooth and digital cam/camcorder with the USB as well. Don't try to use more than 150 watts off the thing while plugged into the 12 volt accessory though, you may blow a fuse. To use full power you'd have to attach it to the batteries which someone already wrote above.
Well, I just completed orientation yesterday, and current policy is that NO inverters of any kind are allowed to be used in the truck, this includes the small ones you can plug into the 12vdc outlet.
yeah....bull $#&!. You then ask "how are we to charge our phone when we dont ever see an outlet till we get to a terminal? tell em they better plan you to sit at a shipper so you can charge your cell long enough.
Not to sound like a smarts$$ or anything (which my wife says that I am all the time)....but they do make cell phone car chargers that plug straight into the cig plug. I still think it's crazy to say absolutely no inverters of any kind though. If they are going to be that bad then the company better have an APU installed on the truck
