does anyone do thier logs legal??....every single trucker i talked to cheats on them, even my trainer showsme how to cheat on them. i still need to know how to do them legal and get the load there on time....so my question is does anyone do them legal????????? it seems like if we ran our loads legal we'd never make the appt time if we took a 10 hr break. (i want a company with automatic volvos, legal logs, and home 48 hrs a week) -fat chance right?
Well, my hubby runs pretty much completely legal. With his company, he has to, because they check the logs with recording of the qualcomm. Who do you run for?
i drive for millis, a very good company, i just wish i could do it legal, maybe i could but im still in training, and showing me how to cheat off the get go isnt a good sign....i heard werner does it legal beacuse of the computerized logs, is this true?
Yep, with Werner, you don't have a choice. My hubby actually started with them for his training, and stayed with them a few months. Most of the drivers referred to the electronic logs as the 'Shock Collar' because the darn thing would start beeping at you when you were getting close to the time you needed to be shut down by.
I think the people that made the HOS rules have ever stepped foot in a truck. 11 hours is cool if you dont have to stop and pick up during the day. By the time you drop off a load, pick up another one, eat, shower, fuel, copy and fax bills and whatever else, you only have like 5 hours of drive time left but they want you to run 600 miles by the next morning. If you got two or three days to make the trip you can manage but if you pick and drop every day and are running decent miles, its almost impossible to stay legal. They dont take into consideration detention, travel time or none of the fun stuff. I do belive it should be regulated, but not at the current terms we have. It forces people to fudge the books just to make any money. Sucks
I agree with you completely on that. I'd like to see a return to the rules that were in place back when I was driving. You could split your time more and not be penalized for having to break up your driving time. Ideally I'd like to see the old way of being able to split the drive time and keep the 34 hour reset. The company my hubby drives for gives you almost too much time to make a run. Majority of the time he has no problems making delivery appointments, and often has them try and move his delivery time up.
This is the company I was set on applying for first...not so sure now, unless you just got a "bad" trainer. I'd like to learn how to properly log in training, then decide for myself if I do some fudging down the road...but ####, if they teach you how to drive illegal, your first run in with the law, you'll probably be screwed
I think there are some members that do drive for Millis that may end up popping in here. Just how much fudging is he having you do? Is it just 15 minutes here or there, or worse?
well its deff MORE than 15 min here or there....like we would drop a load off at night after like 14 hrs of driving and the "log" said that we didnt deliver untill the next morning....so overall we were like 12 hrs off at min...also he never showed me how to do a pretrip...and i take my cdl test when i go back in jan i only seen him open the hood once in 2 weeks on the road.......but he was an awsome guy, just not a good trainer....i wont say his name cuz i dont wanna get him in trouble, i really want a new trainer bad. i gotta study my cdl book for my pretrip or else im never gonna pass my cdl, the driving and manuvers i got down to a science...... wat company does your hubby work for, id like more than enough time to deliver
