this is probably a dumb question but when you want to update your pta, do you have to use the local time zone or your home terminal timzeone? For example if I’m in Columbus, OH (ETZ) and my home terminal is in mountain time zone and will be ready at 0800 should I type 0600 or 0800
your supposed to use your home time. that's the time your company dispatched you on. and how your logs started on. no matter where you are, it's your home time. make adjustments to your driving time to compensate. drive you crazy, it did it to me, i had to be in Commerce, CA at 7 AM....thier time.. i was there at 7 AM my time, making me 3 hours early...lol (4 AM when i arrived)
If it's a travel agent trying to update a customer, I will say 0800 LOCAL. Deskjockeys can get confused by too many time zone changes.
I put a stick on clock on dash with time my co. wants me to log on, after that i had no more problems ?
I always kept my tractor dash clock and wristwatch set to home terminal time. I never remember having trouble doing the mental changes for deliveries.
My people don’t care. Actually, I think they can’t tell time. Worse than the IRS. As long as I put a number. That’s all that matters.
I always add the term "local" if I can such as in an email or over the phone. If you're an east coast driver but updating them on a new PTA for your California availability in a macro, I'd always use the time in question where you physically are or will be. But check with your company.
