    A question to you all,
Has anyone triggered the red triangle critical event, like hard braking, or taking a turn a little too sharp coming out of a corner!
Only why am asking because we are owner operators leases on to a carrier with are own equipment ( truck ) I can't find anything in our contract states that the carrier has the right to monitor this. I'm not trying to bark up the wrong tree here, couple of O/O I met at MAT truck show in Louisville Kentucky were talking about this.
Just like to have some comments on this,! what do you all think ?

I have only dealt with one quailcomm system and from what I was told it's built into the software of the system ,it might not necessarily be a company thing or requirement, but built into the system itself.. ? I could be wrong, not sure what your contract entails. Though unless they call complain or call you into speak with a safety manager, I think you will find as a O/O they won't say much if anything. I was shocked when I found out my prior employer with quailcomm was able to tell me that I broke the speed limit 1382 times in 1 month, hard braked three hundred + times in a month. He told me he didn't care unless I got a violation but that I should be more aware of my speeds and try not to tear up their equipment ... I saw the report right on his computer , needless to say I was shocked the monitoring system was so thorough. Welcome to new age trucking...

in my expert opinion if the government is going to mandate E-logs that are linked to the ECM ; they should make it possible to edit drive time for safety reasons i.e. finding parking, weather emergencies, and makes the driver feel like he's "beating the clock"
"beating the clock" on auto-logging trucks causes so many accidents and deaths, but the problem is that the driver can't claim that as a reason in court. Statistics on accidents by "beating the clock" are not indicated, so the government really has no clue on the pressures of the job that we do.

The Government may mandate those E-logs, but your biggest worry is, if you are involved in an Accident, those lawyers are gonna have a field day when they can trace your driving habits looking for any excuse to hammer you.....

Makes NO difference if you are in the right, they can twist those driving habits noted on those E-logs to their advantage when they are able to go back in time and see those violations that happened in the past....

Just glad I'm retired and never had to have one in my truck....

I'm a company driver and our company monitors our speed through the Qualcomm.

I have never heard that O/O are exempt from the rules, as it all falls under our "safety" dept.

If you were shocked to see you broke the speed limit 1300 times in a month, consider that we are hauled into a meeting with safety if we get 15 in a month. And we are a team, so we roll almost 24 hours a day!

This is my first job where they are watching it so closely and we sure pay more attention to the speed limits than ever before, no more letting the truck roll down hills or running at them either.

Don't lease to a company that is going to put any type of "monitoring system" in your truck....if it is a mandatory requirement for dispatch etc get in writing that no operational monitoring will take place....if they violate this you can't be held to any type penalty.....if they won't agree to it walk away

If they want to mandate Electric Shock Collar Logs, they can eliminate the 14 hour clock and allow some leeway when we are delayed at a dirt lot shipper 5 miles from a legit truck stop with hot showers and flush toilets.

Allowing you to edit EOBR really defeats the whole point of EOBR. I mean if we can edit them then there is always going to be someone cheating.

On the other hand, no editing means we are chained to a mistake.

It can already be edited from the pc at the terminal or office.

Our qualcomms only allow for switching duty statuses, not moving times. A real kicker in the rear should you not be paying attention and someone manipulates your logs so you can get more done. There'll be a couple lines stating you were here then there but you were off duty and alone nowhere near another employee yet somehow you went from point a to point be and it's logged that way.

My dispatcher was getting a little happy about using that malfunction, so I switched back to paper logs. I'm not getting into trouble with my license for his loads...
