So I’m wondering? How much do the companies charge to lease their specific trailer for their own specific box? I also assume there’s really no point in even buying your own trailer since they are not universal? Or is there a sand hauling trailer that will fit every box? Please let me know your thoughts on this?

I'd strongly recommend buying your own trailer.

I have seen some on step decks
I see a lot on trailers that are very similar to the rail box trailers.
Today I even saw a flatbed with carbo super sacks on the side of the road.
One sack was pretty much empty and a big pile on the roadside.

If you can buy one I would, but getting a contract to haul boxes as an o/o is next to impossible in my experience- there is a waiting list of carriers a mile long. Now you can lease on to a carrier that has a contract. If you know what type of boxes they are using (PROPX, SANDBOX, HALLIBURTON) you can try and location a trailer and buy one, but they are not easy to come by.... the carrier you lease onto will be able to hook you up with the right trailer tho. As for the fee for using someone else's chassis- it varies, but it's small and nothing I even noticed.

A sandbox trailer is pretty specialized. Not much else you can do with one of those if market conditions change

    Don’t buy one.
