I have a 1994 Kenworth W900, I’m trying to find someone who can stretch the sleeper. Right now it’s 60”, but I want to go to 120”. ARI n ATG want $150,000 which I think is ridiculous. Does anyone know of a place?
They’ve gotten stupid high. Mine is way old, but I’m a low maintenance husband, so I just enjoy the dated amenities. I bought the whole darned thing for $43k 6 years ago, but couldn’t replace even the sleeper for that. Rather run a day cab and motel every night
With some basic wrenching/carpentry/electrical and aluminum welding skills, a used sleeper from ARI or Facebook would be a far cheaper option. Id rather have $250k tied up in a house note than a depreciating asset, unless I spent 51 weeks of the year in it.
I agree with a deprecating asset. But fabrication is expensive as well. For example, there is a shop in Pennsylvania that restores cab interiors. They are well know and do excellent work, but it starts at about $10k.
