first thing you want to check is in the battery box. Those 2 heavy gauge wires from the tarp switch goes to the battery box. There should be a circuit breaker in line right near the positive wire near the battery post. Alot of guys including my self just wrap it in electrical tape instead of mounting it. I always keep a spare in my truck. sometimes they pop and need to be swapped out. so check that first by bypassing it. IF it works after bypassing, replace it. they are like 20 bucks. Next you will want to check your switch, they crap out just like the breaker. They are cheap as well.
heres a pic of the breaker. Doesnt sound like you are, but if you know how to use a multimeter, you can easily trace your wires to see if they are hot at all the points you want to check. mainly at the motor. I have no idea what a trap sensor is and what it senses but hey maybe some triaxles have such a thing. tarper2.jpg
