Question. Does anyone know where we can get tarps that are still heavy duty with either a 6' or 8' drop but not weigh 80lbs. I've seen some on 18 wheelers where they have smaller ones but more quantity. We have a 40' trailer just trying to find some a little lighter it's hard to get these up on top when the loads 8' tall appreciate the help
80 pounds sounds pretty light for a lumber tarp. I don't see how you could get any lighter. Thats a lot of material.
Light and heavy duty are rarely used in the same sentence. I’m assuming you have two tarps now, one option is to run 3 smaller ones instead.
Most tarps are made of 18 ounce vinyl. You can go lighter with 14 ounce vinyl but be prepared to make a lot of repairs. Contact companies like Tarp Stop, Duroche Tarps. If you have a 40 foot trailer, then you could get two 20 foot tarps to reduce the weight. Most truckers use two 24 foot tarps of 18 ounce vinyl (6 or 8 foot drops). You can also get a light weight 8 foot drop in three sections.
Two 24 footers would be more appropriate to allow for overlap. Two 20's would not properly cover a full 40 ft load. Two 24's will not cover a 48 ft load, but 27's will
Ok thanks sorry I'm a female and those babies are heavy to be tryin to toss around. Lol you all must have some muscles ☺️
It would be better for you to use 3 pieces to reduce the weight especially if you are tarping a lot. It will help you in the long run. If you can afford it & you're in it for the long haul. A conestoga is your best bet. All the best to you.
Man or woman: you want to flatbed you better be able to figure a way to get it done. Build the muscles and carry a ladder, or have the forklift put the rags up top. If it ain’t you it’ll be someone else. And DON’T fall.
