Now, you could have Mom drive the 80 miles over to where you're at and do some role play if you catch my drift. You'll be legal no matter how you look at it.
Like I said before, to each their own. You're right, it's a lot of "what ifs" but it only takes one to wreck your career. No, I wouldn't get fired or even get in trouble if a customer kicks me out of their lot because I'm out of hours, and even then you can still get a citation when simply moving to a legal parking spot. But no DOT officer is going to accept that you're driving illegally just to get home. I want to see my family as much as the next guy, but if I lose my job or wreck my CSA score and can't provide for the, anymore, what's the point? But like I said, I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, I'm just saying I wouldn't. Plus, like I said before, if I sit overnight I get an extra day off when I do get home. Good trade in my opinion.
I would go back and start logging as SB from about 30 minutes after I got there. If you have already been there say 3 hours, then you only have 5 hours to go in SB and you can roll home Dude. (Split sleep)
I barely ever do a full 10 all at the same time anymore. Can't. Unless I want only like 4 loads and 17 miles for the week and get home Saturday afternoon.
