I've long wondered why dentists are so adamant about extracting a patient's wisdom teeth. Look at the dentist in this video: he's so interested in the specifics of this painful procedure it's unnerving. And his eyebrows, it's like he spent a week at a Black Mass with Anton LaVey. Look up all the health issues associated with blood clots. Unless something serious is going on with your wisdom teeth, I'd keep 'em around.
I had mine yanked in my early 20's. I had to as I didn't have room. Honestly it went well. No pain killers needed, minimal swelling. Only downside was having to chew with my front teeth for a couple weeks while waiting for the sockets to heal.
Most people getting wisdom teeth removed don't have the jaw space for them. In the ancient past we ate less cooked food and we chewed a lot more from an early age. All of the chewing caused us to have bigger jaws. But since fire and cooked food, not so much. It's only necessary to remove a wisdom tooth if it is growing toward the tooth next to it. Not removing it is like leaving a tree root growing into your home's water pipe. It will only get worse if you don't remove it. I think mine started to come in in early 20s. Once the first one started causing pain I got all 4 removed at once. Not everybody has a horror story, but everyone with a horror story will tell it.
Impacted wisdom teeth are an absolute nightmare. I'd rather have them pulled instead of waiting until I needed a surgical procedure.
Most dentists don't recommend having procedures that aren't necessary. Usually the potential side effects aren't as bad as leaving it in and the decay and pain that could be avoided.
My wisdom teeth are gone and good riddance. I was born with bad teeth dna from both sides. I have had a sadistic surgeon , so bad my dentist went with me to watch him, because even he didn't trust him. I need work now because of him. That guy in the video , is quite a different fellow , I agree. I think he had surgery to get those eyebrows. I cannot imagine spending good money to get Bozo Brows. But to each his own. Whatever trips his trigger is his biz.
Dentist stories, by golly, they could fill a book. Dental procedures and equipment have gotten incredibly sophisticated. Trouble is, all that equipment has cobwebs on them, because nobody can afford the services. Why dental procedures aren't covered by most insurance policies has always been a mystery,, and the ones that do, require 2 years waiting and outrageous premiums. Dental procedures on the road are almost non-existent. One truckstop I visited, Iowa 80, I think had a dentist. Imagine what that person sees. I think I have one wisdom tooth left, ( no wonder I'm not smart in my old age) and where I live, NOBODY does any kind of surgical removal. Closest is about 60 miles on Tuesdays only, and a 2 month wait. I had 2 back molars, in poor shape, nobody would pull them, so one night while watching TTR, I pulled them myself. I figured, it couldn't hurt anymore than it did, just the tops, and the roots I probably die with. I see so many people with bad front teeth, it's not just for slack jawed yokels anymore. Stupid teeth, Gods cruelest mistake.
I've never heard of anyone having complications from wisdom teeth being removed. This sounds like a bunch of internet hype over nothing. If you follow instructions after surgery it'll heal properly and not be a dry socket. Most people who end up with the dry socket pain are heavy smokers.
