Sorry, had to leave to take a cat to see a vet. :)
Well, you must have been there well after I left, with that kind of equipment, and yes, HQ Phoenix always had the nicest stuff. It must have been when they started investing in the equipment when the CSA stuff started coming out showing how abysmal their equipment maintenance was.
Yeah, Laredo delays, that's why we made ourselves unwelcome or at home, depending on your point of view.:D
Did a year with flatbed, then a month with van and then another year in intermodal, left them to do tanker for a few months, but missed flatbed, so went back to it with other companies. Want to go O/O, but at this point, not sure it makes sense. :) Just want to get back to work, though...I miss it, and my wife's tired of looking at me sitting home reminding her she's not retired, like me. :)

Speaking of reminiscing. Does Schneider still have a glass division? Remember those things? They would close up with electric rams and make a really heavy flatbed. Are those still around?

Maverick bought out the specialized division of Schneider. They took almost the complete flat operation. Seem to remember something about a few contacts they had to keep. Didn’t need a lot of trucks for it. Think it was around 2006.

Yes, that's about the time limit. They were the first company I wanted to go with, but I don't think they liked my inquisitive nature and decided not to bring me on board. Their loss. Anyway, one of the options they asked if I might be interested in was the 'new' Glass Division, and I said I'd think about it..but to no avail. That was right after I retired, about a week after, actually...early January of 2008, so it wasn't fully implemented. Talking to one of their drivers that did it, let me know they had a phony attitude keeping equipment working. Those trailers were a nightmare he said, but they were expected to run them anyway. Typical attitude back then before CSA, which is probably why they didn't like my answers about doing the "right thing" being very important. :)

From a few people I was acquainted with that did run glass, you never get out of it.

Because they wouldn't let them do anything else? o_O
Or they loved it so much they didn't want to leave it? :D

If I was a betting man, I would bet bet that’s a whole Lotta 5 gallon pails of joint compound. I thought this was an interesting idea to distribute the weight without having wide corners or V boards.
