Tractor Supply has 5 gallon buckets of the store brand Traveller motor oil on sale until Monday $39.99 + tax. It doesn't get any cheaper than that better stock up oil is rising.

Do you normally use this oil, Rollin? I assume it's good or you wouldn't have posted about it.

I'll go pick up a couple buckets tomorrow.

Whatever is on sale I buy 15 or 20 buckets as needed. I was using NAPA brand most recently. Oil is oil it's all the same stuff. I sample every change.

I concur...It's how long you leave it in there and change the filter that counts.....

I just got a price the local oil jobber to get Valvoline Premium Blue Semi Synthetic for $8.25/gallon. He's going to throw in the 85 gallon rollaround container with pump and digital meter for free as long as I order from him. Another oil jobber here has Shell Rimula for $7.50/gallon. I was told it's basically the same as Rotella but with a different label. I guess Rotella is marketed towards OTR guys and Rimula is makreted toward off road guys but it's the same product. Same deal with the pump/meter and container.

It may be worth a phone call to see if you can find a deal like that where you are. Saves dealing with buckets and jugs anyway

What is an oil jobber? I don't know if we have anyone like that around. There is a local oil company that sells tires, works on cars, etc. I don't have anywhere to store a big drum or an 85 gallon container for the time being but that sounds like an awesome deal. Basically I got these 5 gallon buckets for about that same price. It's kind of a pain pumping the oil from them but those buckets sure are handy for misc stuff. I've got a bunch of clean ones stored away.

Still sitting on a 30 gallon from last year - less miles and the bypass filtration. That Schaeffers is kinda high dollar, but I like that it's delivered to the house and the sample kits are $10.

I need to hit him up for some free stuff, throw my weight around - you know - with the big 'one truck ' operation speech :)

I'm tend to agree. They vary, and market on their "additive packages" - I've never tracked down an independent test across the board.

In saying that, I extend drains, bypass filter and sample, but I've never been out over 40k miles before paranoia sets in and I dump it anyway.

That would be the fuel and oil dealer. Whoever you see delivering fuel to gas stations in your area will typically also sell oil in any quantity you can think of. Our local Napa gets all thier oil in anything bigger than a gallon jug from Cardwell Distributing so if that's what I'm after I just buy it direct.
