Bringing this issue back to life….

Just experienced this very issue. 2024 389. Turned out the fuse in position D10 was blown. Replaced fuse all came back to life!!

Now, the rest of the story…..

I recently installed an aligned, converted and tuned Stryker 447HPC2. I had to splice the factory jumper power wires with the Stryker provided power wires. I realize the OEM power supply wires are slightly thinner/smaller than the Stryker wires. However I rolled the dice and connected everything. No issues until…..I came across info that using the smallest length of power wire will allow greater watts. Great!! So here’s where things took a turn. I go in and shorten the power wires Stryker sent. I left all inline fuses in place. I hook everything up and boom….no power to cb, cruise stopped working, Jake’s stopped working. Just like the OP stated/experienced. Only difference was I noticed no arching of wires. So I replace D10 fuse. Hook everything back up, turn Stryker on, she works!! Turn Stryker off, Reassemble everything I took apart and turn Stryker back on. NOTHING!!.
So here’s where I’m at….my guess is the shortened Stryker wires pushed just enough watts to create this issue?. I saved the Stryker wire I removed. Would it be safe/advisable to splice that length of wire back together and see if, in fact the extra watts are just too much hence causing the D10 fuse to pop? At this point I’m just speculating and asking questions (learning). TIA.

There is a switch under your cab that is controlled by the clutch pedal. Probably not related but I over grease my truck and grease drips down on that switch and looses electrical contact to that switch. Something to think about. I’ve replaced that switch twice on my 2014 389.

There is a CB sub-forum where you should probably start a thread. There are some very knowledgeable people in there.

    Sub-forum link:
    CB Radio Forum

Me knowing how sensitive PACCAR’s electronics are and the fact you’re installing something well above the average CB, I’d be running a separate, fused power supply from the battery box. There’s a lugged breaker down there you can tap onto that isolates high-amp draws from the rest of the truck’s electrical systems. My inverter is factory-installed onto that breaker, so it’ll easily handle a high-end CB.

Like you, I probably tend to “over grease” my equipment as well!! Hey, grease is cheap…even THAT grease is CHEAP!!! Anyway I will look into your suggestion. Thanks Brother!!

I don't understand. On my 389, it came with a factory cobra installed, so if your putting in a different CB aren't you just disconnecting the factory CB and installing new using the same wires?

Why would you or did you install new wiring?

The switch that disconnects when you push down clutch pedal. If it isn’t connected, no cruise, no jakes. It disconnects when you barely tap the clutch pedal. If it is dirty, you have no cruise or jakes because the ECM thinks that you have your foot on the clutch pedal.
