I would be afraid to nose in. When you drive past the spot to set up to back in you can eyeball it and make sure it's clear. If you nose in who knows what's going on behind you when you try to back out, even if you goal you are still backing out into a lane of moving traffic so it's potentially constantly changing right?

 

You always blow that horn when you back up.....do it LTL style lol

 

I nose in all the time when I'm in the back or sides, which is where I prefer.

Then the highly trained professionals I'm surrounded by can chew on the trailer, rather than my truck.

 

All you nosers.....just make sure you don’t hang your arse out there an extra 10 ft because you didn’t back your trailer tires up to the curb

 

Back in my chicken hauling daze I use to nose in a lot. But, I always did it in a place I had no problem getting out!
And mostly in the far back of the parking lot. I have no problems walking.

 

i used to drive pretty late, and usually nosed in. By the time I woke up and was ready to go, the trucks around me were considerate enough to have pulled out and gone on to their day. Don't remember ever having to back out.

 

We do this a lot so there's less noise from reefer units. It helps to know how to back when it comes to getting out.

When I was pulling a 52ft spread if I couldn’t back my rear axle up over a curb or onto grass I would nose into a spot if it was a straight back out. If I backed in with my rear axle at the curb my cab and hood would be sticking out past everyone else, so I’d rather nose in and have someone tag the trailer instead. Now that I’m pulling a short trailer I back in. The front of my truck is even with everyone else.

 

And you have a short hood now.
