Ya thanks again dude, appreciate all your input.
got another question for you...
why would my tail lights on the tractor not be working, also the plate light?
signals work, brake lights work, flashers work, just the tail lights and plate light are out, checked fuses, wires seem to be good, all connections seem to be tight, haven't located any breaks or corroded wires.
any insight would be great, I'm stumped. -
Broken wire for the tail light circuit. Both tail lights and license plate are powered by same wire. Could be broke anywhere. Power for this splits from the same main feed for cab and dash clearance lights. This circuit comes out of one of the octagon shaped connectors at the firewall. I think it is on the right side, but it will be the one with mostly orange and brown wires, (the one with mostly purple wires is for the engine). The tail light feed will be a brown wire. Basically just follow the harness the best you can from the tail lights up to the firewall and check for any locations where it is rubbed through. I don't think there are any connectors mid chassis for this, just the firewall, and then at the tail lights. If you have after-market tail lights chances are there is a butt connector that is just corroded through. Wires wrapped in electrical tape is usually a dead give-away that some kind of connection is hidden in there.
hd99_fatboy Thanks this. -
ok bro thanks, working on it, let you know

well I found the break in the wire going to my tail lights, right where the wire to the lights turns back on itself and splits to the other tail light. fixed it no problem.
but now my windshield wipers just messed up, something popped and I'm getting like a grinding noise that sounds like plastic, you have a blow up or schematic of what that assembly looks like, so I can narrow it down?
thanks dude. -
probably have stripped the crank arm at the motor or something. Are they not moving at all?
-
I think yours should all be mounted on the outside of the firewall under the wiper cowl, or the black plastic tray right below the windshield. The motor, bracket and linkages are sold as an assembly and easy to change out. The wiper arms come off. Then you remove the complete wiper cowl and the center air intake section and that should open up the whole firewall area. The wiper bracket is only held on with 3 or 4 nuts, no big deal. Sometimes the wiper arms can get seized to the pivots, but if they are, I don't think they are too expensive and just smash them off then replace them too.
hd99_fatboy Thanks this. -
cool thanks I'm looking into it tomorrow, let you know.

well I got it all apart, the right hand side of the linkage is bad an I guess it was hitting the bolts holding thing to the rail, so that must have ruined what ever gear is inside the motor.
ordered a motor, getting it monday, $337.00
got the wiper assembly used on ebay for $15.00
should have that in about a week, bummer! -
Yah I know, sometimes trucks suck!
