All I will say is I didn't exceed the California state truck speed limit, +/- my speedo error allowance.
It did get fully dismissed (aka never happened/expunged), & that's what matters to me
Troopers should have better aim with their radar guns, hate to think of their aim with the real firearms... -
That's not true. Violations or clean inspection, carrier safety representative still has to sign and return a copy to the state to acknowledge they are aware of the action performed in the field.
... hence, why many carriers pay "clean inspection bonuses" when they receive them.Last edited: Jul 6, 2017

I used to work in compliance. The only time I signed any inspection report and sent it back to the corresponding State was when there was corrective action required.
Maybe we were doing it wrong?...
However, I just looked at several of my own clean inspection reports and there's no where on the reports that says the carrier is required to sign the report and send it back.
In addition, when I had my safety audit in March, the auditor pulled up all of my inspection reports, none of which I had ever signed as the carrier and sent back in. She never said anything about it to me. Who knows, maybe I'm just missing something. -
I have gotten clean inspections and asked officers if I had to sign and send them back. I was told that there is no need to do that, unless there was a violation.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Had a level 2 recently, the inspector made a point of telling me that it did not have to be returned.
Does it vary by State? -
All I know is they (looking at an Oregon) say "Form must be returned within 15 days" it's not followed up with "if violations are noted". But okay. Why leave bonus money on the table? Send it in to your carrier, regardless. Let them decide what to do with it.

MrEd Thanks this. -
I think clean inspections don't have to be returned, signed, to the DOT. But, if I'm not mistaken, you do have to send them in to your company.
-
My clean inspection reports say I have to sign it and mail it to the state. Maybe they don't care if you don't do it since there's no violation but I always sign and mail them.

I just got a clean inspection in Michigan last week. Officer said it did not have to be signed and returned because there were no violations.
