My latest "violation" of this was specific to Omnitrac from Landstar. I made sure before I took off I took pictures of the eight hour split (which I did first), then the two hour split (which I did second) before continuing on to my delivery that morning. In my experience, its best to just take the picture of the ELD with the hours showing on it that you have been in sleeper, before you do anything. It showed on my end, that I had no violation and did the split correctly, as I had hours to work with, but still showed on their end I had a violation. Sent the pictures and never heard anything back, but I imagine they did something on their end to convey the info to Omnitrac. Nobody can dispute the pictures showing the hours you took in the sleeper, and that you did have the hours. So, in short, just take the pictures. That's my two cents.
